My name is Claire I live in Scunthorpe in Lincolnshire and I've been a cat owner for 12 years. Up till recently all of my cats have been rescue cats of various breeds. 8 years ago at 1am a male cat appeared in my living room, he smelled and looked terrible! His fur was raggy and flea-ridden and he had cigarette burns on his skin but he had the biggest most beautiful green eyes and I melted! No one came forward to claim him and he seemed like he wanted to stay and so it was that Harvey, my first Maine Coon, became part of our family. Sadly we only had the pleasure of him for a short while as Harvey died of Cancer 18 months later. But something about him touched our hearts and my love of Maine Coons has grown and and developed over the years and I now have the great pleasure of starting my own 'family' of these glorious felines! in July 2011 Charlemaine Maine Coons was born! As the story continues I look forward to the rewards and experiences that this new venture will bring to our family with the support of my wonderful (understanding and indulgent) husband Chris, my 3 boys and the friendship and advice given by my fellow breeders.
